A nonprofit organization, Mudflat Studios has helped the Boston community create unique pieces since 1971. It features a fun, vibrant setting and offers learning opportunities for all skill levels. Start with Beginning Wheel Throwing. Designed for those with little to no clay experience, it covers forming shapes, glazing, and other techniques. Try other sessions like Advanced Beginning Wheel Throwing and Beginning Handbuilding. Tuition includes 25 pounds of clay.
Learn the art of pottery at Feet of Clay. The Clay Sampler class (two lessons) is perfect for those new to this art form. The sessions start with a demonstration before you spend the remainder of class creating a unique pot. Adult multi-sessions are also available. At Indigo Fire, the mission is to offer a laid-back setting where beginning and seasoned potters alike can learn new skills. The classes typically run for eight to twelve weeks. They meet weekly for two hours and focus on teaching wheel techniques. Bring out your creativity between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. or between 5:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. The studio also offers private lessons. The teachers provide two hours of dedicated instruction, and participants can create as many pots as they'd like.
